Two weeks ago today, when my novel Golden Triangle appeared in the world, I was totally out of action. If it hadn’t been for friends, readers, fellow writers and industry professionals who stepped up to the plate for me, the book may well have arrived in silence and remained forlornly invisible.
As well as developments in my own health condition that have made this past winter such bloody hard work, just before Golden Triangle’s release two of our three daughters were diagnosed with different serious problems that both required urgent medical treatment and my dear friend and researcher Sheila Hamilton was rushed into hospital for a series of life-saving surgeries.
Things are ongoing with all three of them. It’s been hell on wheels, to be honest, but at least now we can see lights at the end of the tunnels. When all three things hit at once back then it was overwhelming and terrifying.
Then my wife and I got the norovirus the weekend before Golden Triangle went live. Yeah. Nuff said.
Among the industry professionals at Carina Press who went beyond the call of duty I want to thank my wonderful editor Rhonda Helms, executive editor Angela James, editorial assistant Stephanie Doig, and editor Mallory Braus who was driving the @CarinaPress account on Twitter that week.
Friends, fellow writers and readers who helped include everyone on the Carina Press authors loop and the Carina fantasy authors blog Here Be Magic, and generous and remarkable friends from Romance Divas, Forward Motion, the What Did You Do Last Night? thread on Not the Talk, Twitter, and Fantasy Faction.
Thank you all. You’re lovely. x
